Just like humans, in spring a young bird's fancy turns to thoughts of love.

I put up several bird feeders. All kinds of birds were there nearly all day long.

In the spring northern flickers would drill on the street light housings looking for partners. They came to their feeder several times a day. They are one of my favorite birds, mainly because they are quite large and attractive. Most birds are attractive, I think.

My other favorite is the nuthatch, because they feed upside down. They do this because, in trees, they can see insects that other birds feeding upside up miss seeing.

I had many other birds as well. My new neighborhood has hardly any birds. I miss my birds.
