COFFEE!!!

I had to fast 12+ hours for a glucose blood test (and cholesterol screen).

I am alternating bringing up that liquid gold to my lips and sighing with satisfaction.

My day is complete.

8 ounces gone in less than 5 minutes. Hard not to gulp save for the heat factor.

My happiness is likely exaggerated from the deprivation.

And I wholly agree with your assessment of "The Preparation". I rhetorically asked the medical staff how was I supposed to drink this stuff when my teeth were clenched.

After colonoscopy, the coffee, eggs, hash browns, bacon, they are heaven.

7. Next time I'm due

(I’m guessing in another year or two; I was given a 10-year window last time), I’m going to ask for a FIT test ... recommended for people not at high risk. Just collect your poop, and it’s just about as accurate as the far more expensive ($1,000 vs $20) and unpleasant colonoscopy. See article below.

I don’t mind the colonoscopy itself (you’re out cold), but the prep is arduous for me. I was vomiting rather badly from drinking all that stuff last time.

Fortunately, in not too many years I’m done with the colonoscopy anyway. Not recommended over age 74. Yay, no more obligatory jury duty and no more colonoscopies! There’s at least some recompense for getting old.

6. I love coffee

A cup of iced coffee makes my day.

I have a low tolerance for high temperatures inside my mouth. Because my mom had me taste some beans she was cooking. It burned my mouth so bad the flesh inside blistered and the skin layer inside sloughed off. Now I can't tolerate hot liquids or too hot foods.

So be careful when you want someone to taste your cooking.
Tell them to cool it and for fucks sake don't hold the spoon for them.

I wish I could handle hot coffee or hot chocolate especially when it's cold out.
