I stayed in Porto for 2 weeks in 2019. Beautiful country! I really only disliked the openly racists right wingers who make it obvious that they don’t like Afro descendants. So upset that many European countries are mirroring the bullshit we face in this country.

Lisbon is a very safe and friendly city.
The people were the best! They were so gracious.

It is also inexpensive when buying food, or eating out.

We have traveled a lot, and Lisbon is one of my favorite places to visit, or live!

My heart is heavily set on Italy, however it looks like Portugal could be in the realm of international possibilities.

I've been learning about Italy to get the information that I need, such as the houses, tornados, earthquakes, voting, banking, and shopping. For example, southern Italy has an abundant amount of tornados but because their houses are constructed from stone, unlike American homes, it's less likely that homes are destroyed from a tornado. I've also learned that Italian citizens vote for members of Congress and not the President. Their Congress is who votes for the President. Topics like these are important to know when considering being an American expat in a foreign country.

My best advice is to go to YouTube and search "American Expats in Portugal" which will bring up tons of videos that you can learn from.

I've been watching YouTubers called The Portugal Project which is interesting.

I discovered Jovie's Home YouTube Channel several days ago. Even though she's an American expat living in the Netherlands, I've learned a few things here and there watching her videos as well.

I hope this helps too and good luck to you.

One of the first things I checked out is the language situation:

Portuguese is what's spoken with the following in order:

English (27%) French (15%) Spanish (10%)

Thanks for your feedback.....
