Makes me feel a bit old....I remember Smoke On Water being one of my favorite rock guitar riffs (bring on the big time fuzz tone).
RIP, Jon.
One for the road - great organ solo to start - one of my favorites!

(4,338 posts)Hands down one of THE loudest concerts I have ever been too.
And Jon Lord rocking that keyboard back and forth was to be reckoned with!
He will be missed!

(19,370 posts)Jon was one of my favorite rock keyboard players, he had great feel and presence.
I saw them play last year with Steve Morse on guitar. Great show and Joe Satriani opened. Satch came out and jammed with DP. Jon played his ass off as usual. I was also fortunate enough to see them in back in '74 at the first California Jam.
RIP Jon.

(12,132 posts)It was a great show indeed - except I think I got Edgar Winter opening up (That's not a complaint, btw - just a statement - Frankenstein was fun live too!)
but damn. Going to load up all my Deep Purple in remembrance.
