They don't write lyrics like this any more. Pity.

June is bustin' out all over
All over the meadow and the hill!
Buds're bustin' outa bushes
And the rompin' river pushes
Ev'ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill!

June is bustin' out all over
The feelin' is gettin' so intense,
That the young Virginia creepers
Hev been huggin' the bejeepers
Outa all the mornin' glories on the fence!
Because it's June...

June, June, June
Just because it's June, June, June!

THE SPRING SONG
(Seven Brides for Seven Brothers)

CALEB:
Oh, the barnyard is busy in a regular tizzy,
And the obvious reason is because of the season
Ma Nature's lyrical, with her yearly miracle
Spring, Spring, Spring.

BENJAMIN:
All the hen-folk are hatchin'
While their men-folk are scratchin'
To ensure the survival of each brand new arrival.
DORCAS:
Each nest is twitterin',
They're all baby-sitterin',
Spring, Spring, Spring.

FRANK:
It's a beehive of buddin' son and daughter life,
Every family has plans in view.
Even down in the brook the underwater life
Is forever blowin' bubbles too.

LIZA:
Every field wears a bonnet
With some spring daisies on it,
Even birds of a feather show their clothes off together.
EPHRAIM:
Sun's gettin' shinery, to spotlight the finery,
LIZA:
Spring, Spring, Spring.

GIDEON:
From his eyrie, the eagle with his eagle eye
Gazes down across his eagle beak
And a'fixin' his lady with the legal eye
Screams "suppose we fix the date this week!"

CALEB & RUTH with DANIEL & MARTHA:
Yes, siree, spring disposes
That it's all one supposes
It's a real bed of roses
Waggin' tails, rubbin' noses.

All BROTHERS (except Ephraim) & All BRIDES:
Each day is Mother's Day
The next is some other's day
When all is King ....

Will:
You'll have to be a little more standoffish
When fellers offer you a buggy ride.

Annie:
I'll give a imitation of a crawfish
And dig myself a hole where I can hide.

Will:
I heared how you was kickin' up some capers
When I was off in Kansas City, Mo.
I heared some things you couldn't print in papers
From fellers who been talkin' like they know!

Annie:
Foot!
I only did the kind of things I orta, sorta,
To you I was as faithful as c'n be fer me.
Them stories 'bout the way I lost my bloomers - Rumors!
A lot of tempest in a pot o' tea!

Will:
The whole thing don't sound very good to me.

Annie:
Well, y' see.

Will:
I go and sow my last wild oat!
I cut out all shenanigans.
I save my money, don't gamble or drink
In the back room down at Flannigans!
I give up lotsa other things
A gentleman never mentions,
But before I give up anymore,
I wanta know your intentions!

With me it's all er nuthin'.
Is it all er nuthin' with you?
It cain't be "in between"
It cain't be "now and then"
No half and half romance will do!

I'm a one woman man, Home lovin' type,
All complete with slippers and pipe.
Take me like I am, er leave me be!
If you cain't give me all, give me nuthin'
And nuthin's whut you'll git from me!

Annie:
Not even sump'n?

Will:
Nuthin's whut you'll git from me!

Annie:
It cain't be "in between"?

Will:
Uh-uh.

Annie:
It cain't be "now and then"?

Will:
No half and half romance will do!

Annie:
Would you build me a house
All painted white
Cute and clean and purty and bright

Will:
Big enough fer two but not fer three!

Annie:
S'posin' that we should have a third one?

Will:
He better look a lot like me!

Annie:
The spittin' image!

Will:
He better look a lot like me!

(dance sequence)

Annie:
With you it's all er nuthin'.
All fer you and nuthin' fer me!
But if a wife is wise, she's gotta realize
That men like you are wild and free.
So I ain't gonna fuss, ain't gonna frown,
Have your fun, go out on the town,
Stay up late and don't come home till three.
And go right off to sleep if you're sleepy....
No use waitin' up fer me!

Will:
Oh, Ado Annie!

Annie:
No use waitin' up fer me!

Will:
Come on and kiss me!

I learned the lyrics to every musical in the 50's and 60's. All it took was the title and I was singing. It really is a shame that I could never hold a tune.

The King and I; South Pacific: Oklahoma; Guys & Dolls; Camelot and my favorite still My Fair Lady...just you wait Henry Higgins, just you wait.....

Oh no I can feel flashbacks coming on.

Guys and Dolls "When you see a slob get a good study job...call it hell call it heaven, but its better than 12 to 7 that the guys only doin it for some doll, some doll..."

Hello young lovers wherever you are...all my good memories go with you tonight, I had a love of my own like yours....

Anything you can do I can do better....

Ahhhhhhh, good thing only the fur crew will hear me, unless I hit the Blush wine..

All I want is a room somewhere, far away from the cold night air....

Was "In olden days a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking.." was that from Picnic?

June is bustin out all over!
The sheep aren't sleepin' any more.
All the ram sheep chasin' ewe sheep
Are determined there'll be new sheep,
And the ewe sheep aren't even keepin' score!
