Around here I have to close the windows at night usually because it gets too cold and daytime temps aren't expected to reach 80 until next week. (I love the weather in the pacific NW)

I checked the temperature near my basement floor: It's a consistent 67 degrees F. Nice place to be when it's hot outside.

I'm outside quite a bit throughout the year. Heat is just a way of life in Texas. I don't particularly like to be outside in the middle of the day if the humidity is high, but we don't get high humidity that often. The key is to stay well hydrated.

Because I can ( it's a honking big unit compared to the size of my house ), and because I'll make up for it in other ways, such as eating less.

I'm a late riser due to my normal constitution and work schedule. I open the bedroom door, which I usually keep closed, to help equalize the temperature since the sun rises on the bedroom side of my house. Of course that means I have to cover the phone base with heavy towels so it doesn't wake me up. If I don't, my bedroom will be 20 degrees warmer than the rest of the house and I'll be a tossing, turning sweaty wreck.

When I pull my car into the garage I lift the engine hood and point an oscillating fan at it to dissipate the heat. It's also supposed to help extend the life of the rubber hoses, belts, wiring.

I never use the washer, dryer, electric range when the sun is out. You can't believe how much heat they add to a house.

Summer sucks. Seriously.

you live in South Florida. I lived there until 1989, and now I live in North Georgia. People here complain about the humidity and I tell them the same thing. The humidity in South Florida is the worst than anywhere in the U.S. The only time I ever experienced higher humidity was when I was in Barbados. You went outside and melted instantly.

except swim in the lake, be too much like a mud bath.

My bedroom door opens onto a raised deck, got me one of 'dem magnetic mesh screen doors
and it really helps at night, not during daylight. But by 1 a.m. it is "sleepable" in there.

Iced sun Tea; lemonade; iced water, ICED anything.

The little garden is still hanging on, so eat a LOT of tomatoes, cold. Bacon &Tomato sandwiches are getting quit a workout at this house. Veggie salads, of course use way too much dressing.

AND this wonderful AC which I stay parked in front of often, as now. That's why I am at DU so often, okay one of the reasons.

Put a screensaver(from away.com) of icebergs-that helps.

Plus whining helps a lot.
