Telling patients to put their masks on before entering the clinic. Telling them to keep it up over their noses.
Patient today called mask-wearing the 'craziest thing ever!'
I suppose. Other than dying from preventable diseases, I guess.
Five hours to go. There's a very strong gin rickey at home with my name on it. Plenty of lime so I don't get the scurvy...
Gin does the trick.

(4,514 posts)Hubby had a dental appointment a few weeks ago. Protocol is check in by text and wait in your car until called. While he and a couple others were waiting, some old dude got tired of it and decided to go full Karen outside the locked front doors. They had to call the cops to haul the dude off.

Not sure what their issue is with masks...
They sure seem to take it personally. Weird.

(16,291 posts)foof = friend of a friend.
Urban legends are a type of folklore, and there are anthropologists who specialize in the study of it. One of the hallmarks of an urban legend is that the person passing it along is never a primary or even secondary source (i.e., someone who it happened to or who witnessed it first hand). It's always a foof--someone who knows someone who knows someone who supposedly saw or experienced it.
Could be Mary's next door neighbor's uncle's boss or John's brother-in-law's ex-wife's grandmother. Or Nikki Minaj's cousin's friend, to use a recent (in)famous example. One thing sure, it's always a foof.

(16,909 posts)If I go into a place, such as a bank, or ride home with a curbside pickup, I change clothes, get a shower, and have a shot of vodka to sanitize my gullet. I'm staying well tyvm.
wnylib
(21,347 posts)shower when I get home. I do wash my hands immediately on getting in the door. Also use hand sanitizer when I leave a place, before I get home. Mouthwash before going out and after returning. I wear an N95 mask while out. I am still wiping down, washing, or spraying everything I carry into my apartment. Still using tissue or a napkin on elevator buttons and doors.
I have wondered if I should change clothes immediately. If I had my own home with a washer and dryer, I probably would. But in an apartment, I have to go to a common room to do laundry, and that exposes me to others in the building.
How I miss the more carefree pre-covid days.
Marthe48
(16,909 posts)but, when I started doing it in March of '20, I figured I'd better make a routine and be strict about doing it. I have KN95 masks I wear when I go out. I have gloves, too, but have slacked off on them. I am on my own in a house, so I can remove the clothes as soon as I get in. I go in the bathroom and wipe off my face and hands with 70% alcohol. If I haven't gone in anywhere, or have groceries, I'll skip the shower. Last year, I would take the clothes right to the washer, but since I'm vacinated now, I can wait. I figure my bod needs exposure to some germs to keep the antibodies at attention
I'm with you, do whatever feels safe. I am tired of doing all of this, but I'll keep doing what it takes to get to the other side. You hang in there, too!

(6,699 posts)We are overwhelmed with stupid morons in this country...thanks in large part to the orange stool from the White House. Before we had them...but they were ashamed enough to keep in their closets. Now they see so many like themselves, they feel they aren't alone.
Shame on us. Kill reich wing media!! It's a disease that is killing us.

(1,797 posts)There was an elderly overweight woman with her mask below her nose. The waiting room is huge so I was not anywhere near her. When the nurse came out to fetch her the nurse said nothing. I was furious.

(16,909 posts)I was on a plane in July and some guy kept pulling his mask down on his neck. One attendent was a young woman. She asked him twice to pull it up and he did. The male attendent asked once and the passenger complied, but he'd pull it right back down. When I saw that, I realized that asking young people, who are still being taught to respect their elders, in spite of bad press, or asking people who might not have had assertiveness training, to make requests that might lead to emotional scenes, is kind of hard on whoever is enforcing the rules. I am out of f's to give, but I would have trouble asking someone to wear their mask or wear it right.

'I don't know

I think soon
very soon

going to BREAK!'
Written long before covid, but quite applicable now-a-days.

(2,809 posts)I'd been assaulted twice, had patients arguing with me, all while contending with lingering long-hauler symptoms.
The real clinchers were this-- twice: In the last moments of two separate ICU patient's lives, during CPR where I'm on standby only if the patient shows recovery-- I was the one in the room to silence
just prior to the duty doc to call it.
Just about one month from today, I'm back to work.
Hopefully having had a booster shot.
