3. Oh you bet I remember them,

when I was a toddler my uncle gave me one which I proceeded to swallow and choke on. He held me by my heels and shook me upside down, luckily that worked but I wasn't given any more root beer barrels.

4. I liked those but...

Atomic Fireballs were my thing...

And now I have many crowned teeth from chewing them up like jelly beans.

15. Oh, I loved those too.

For years I'd keep them in a candy dish on my desk because I liked them enough to have 1 in the afternoon as a treat but wouldn't just scarf them down like I would inevitably do with chocolate or caramels.

17. Oh I loved the mini size...

Mind you, I had a very exciting life at the time and these were better than smoking cigarettes. I used to load up on them, a few individual size packages of them, at a fuel stop at the AZ/NM state line and they'd be gone by the time I got to JFK the next day. I was rolling at high speeds and I had to be on total alert the whole time, I popped them liked jelly beans, instead of grinding my teeth, I chewed those things up. I didn't care for drugs while on adrenaline so sugar was my deal, and coffee.

19. I liked those...

When I was young but lost interest in them by the time I was ten, it seems the type we got in the early years had flavored wax too, I didn't like them so much when the wax wasn't flavored. I really liked the chewable, flavored wax lips and whatever else they made with it.

13. And who can forget candy cigarettes?? They didn't taste all that good, but

kids used them to look oh-so-sophisticated as they pretended to smoke.

14. Wow, this is the way back machine - root beer barrels!

Haven't even thought of them in probably 3 decades, but I did used to love them at Halloween. I'd never trade those with my sister.

20. I do.

We used to have a snack in the afternoon during winter months and Fizzies was one item we could chose. Late 50's early 60s.

22. Oh, my god, fizzies. Loved them.

There was also something that came in small packets that was flavored and I think a bit fizzy. I can't remember the name of them which is weird 'cause I was completely addicted to those little packets.

25. Of course I remember.

My pocket has a roll of Neccos in it every time I go to the flics. As I sit here there are rootbeer barrels in the candy dish in the living room. They share the bowl with butterscotch candy. Life is much too short to live without some tasty sugar.

29. Maybe it was a New England thing but I loved Necco Wafers

Also sky bars and my parents always had candy called Kits. They were little taffy squares kind of like starbursts but smaller. Also loved Charms Pops and Charms hard candies. Butter Rum lifesavers. And there was some cough drop, I canít remember the name that tastes just like a cherry lifesaver, I donít know if they helped with a cold at all but they were yummy

32. Reed's

Cinnamon was my favorite, they had other flavors too, Root Beer was another I think. Callard and Bowser had some kind of chewy chocolate, forgot the name. Could of been toffee chocolate.

36. Anyone mention sugar daddys?

Back then they could pull a tooth or filling out. But they would last the double feature and a cartoon.

Now, like everything else they are a mere ghost of what they were.
