It's commonly used in hospice. It really helps.

High doses of morphine when you aren't used to it can stop you from breathing. But, low dose opioids can help coughing and shortness of breath.

I don't know what 1/8 gr per ounce means. We measure morphine in mgs. I don't know if that is grain or gram.
