They are old enough to do odd jobs around my house for me. I have given them payment over the years so they know that work can be rewarding. Their favorite was wrapping my coins for me, and getting all they wrapped
This year, my grandson is earning money for something he wants to buy. His Mom wants him to do work for me, and God knows my yard is a great training ground. lol
I just wonder what is fair to pay him for real work?
Many thanks!

(162 posts)However, if you could afford it I would say $10.00 an hour with the unde4rstanding half went to a savings account would be nice.

(16,927 posts)They have savings and their Mom makes them put money away. I was thinking $10/hr. I was going to let him tear down an old handicap ramp outside my house. Or else paying for the job, like $50.00

(16,927 posts)They've worked for me before, but short stints. And I paid them appropriately. Their Mom didn't want me to pay them, thought they should help me for free. But she is okay with it now. Learning experience.

of course, they didn't have any money, either

(16,927 posts)But being Grandma, I don't mind. I'd give those kids the planet if I could So I wanted to be sure I wasn't planning to be too generous.
