Superstar chef Bobby Flay and Food Network are poised to part ways after a 27-year run that has made the restaurateur and businessman one of the countrys most recognizable culinary figures.
Flay and Food Network have been in negotiations on a new contract for some time. His most recent exclusive three-year pact with the Discovery-owned cabler expires at years end. Sources close to the situation said that Food Network has ended the negotiations.
Flay representatives at WME declined to comment on the situation, citing the policy of not commenting on active negotiations. Thats an indication that Flays team sees some hardball negotiating tactics afoot. But sources close to Food Network say the decision has been made to move on as the sides were far apart on financial terms. Food Network declined to comment for this story.

(9,998 posts)He gave a great deal of money to struggling restaurants during the pandemic, to help keep them from going under.
Overexposed, probably, but it's only because he brings in high ratings.
From what I've read, he's a decent guy, and treats the workers at his restaurants very fairly.

(80,711 posts)Bring back the Barefoot Contessa! I LOVED her show. Such understated elegance, and a very friendly, folksy vibe. Proof that you dont need spikey, dyed, freak-show hair, overloaded biker jewelry and a bad sunburn to be entertaining. I despise the sing-song-y way he reads the copy. She, on the other hand provides elegance, simplicity, warmth, a sense of genuineness, and intelligence with a gentle twinkle in her eye - and no stupid fucking trash-trendoid gimmickry. I always thought she was wonderful! Food Network for grownups.
Why doesnt Guy Fieri just cut to the chase and do his schtick in a full-on clown costume?

(12,209 posts)We actually need cooking talent on the network.....return to cooking food verses playing with food.....I love the Voltaggio brothers...
Michael Symon cooks and shows us how to cook, explains why to do something a certain way...etc....

(5,226 posts)But that was years ago. Glitzy stars like Flay and Fiero turned me away. I used to like watching a skilled chef cook a few nice recipes that I'd later try myself. Once they got into all this contest bs and Guy Fiero throwing his ego around, it turned it off and have never returned.
