makes no sense to me to start this on such a huge animal. surely there are recently extinct animals that benefitted their environment that would be a better place to start.
not to mention that they are talking about making elephants more adaptable to an environment that is rapidly changing in the other direction. by the time they grow the herd, the tundra will likely be gone.
and yeah, the idea that this is a way to reform the tundra is just silly. surely there are yaks and such that could be deployed.
or machines, which, ya know, when you're done, you dont have to worry about where they go next.
