"The cat was found in an advertisement, for free. He is 1-year-old. He is very sociable and sympathetic, he talks constantly, sometimes he even snaps with sound. His name is Timofey (Tim). Cat loves his name and very often responds to it like a person."

(11,535 posts)I often say he's more like a cat than a dog. Cairn Terrier - very independent little cuss.

(49,824 posts)And she was a prolific purrer.
She like to sleep in one of my clothes drawers where she would bury herself in clothes. If I wasn't sure if she was in there, all it took to find out was to whisper her name and she would make that sound and then start purring loudly.
Miss that cat.

(12,132 posts)every single time she calls her. But if any of the rest of us call the cat she just looks at us, if she looks at all, like we are tree stumps.
The cat will also climb into my wife's lap ONLY when my wife is feeding the dog bits of food from her plate for the sole purpose of preventing the dog from getting any of the food. The cat doesn't want it, she just doesn't want the dog to have it. And she looks supremely pleased with herself when the dog gives up and leaves.

(86,031 posts)We've known each other for about three years so it's an unusual foster. He goes back with his original human, my former landlord, in a couple weeks when the moving ordeal is over. The cat and I talk all the time. It's cool.

(2,194 posts)when I say their name.
In fact, most of the cats in my long life would answer to their name!
Jersey, my angel, and Nelly Belle a sweet little troublemaker are very vocal with all the humans in their house.
Jersey has a special ear-piercing scream for: My water is old!! Freshen my water!! Whoever the closest human is rushes to fulfill his wish and shut him the f...k up!!

(15,952 posts)At least that's been our experience. Our dear, departed Logan (he crossed the Rainbow Bridge almost 4 years ago) was quite the conversationalist. You could carry on a conversation with him about almost anything. As long as you were talking to him, he'd meow back, as if he was agreeing with every word. It was fun.
Our little girl, Willow, who we adopted about 4 months after we lost Logan, isn't much of a talker, but she makes up for it with her enthusiastic purrs and willingness to shower anyone within reach with her boundless affection. If I could combine those traits with Logan's chatterbox proclivities, I would be absolutely ecstatic. But you can't have everything. C'est la vie.
