"What sorcery is this?! This prey neither flinches nor yields to my mighty talons!" *flies off to think deeply about their own inadequacies as a hawk in the 21st century*

One of my dogs does this kind of thing all the time walking around our neighborhood, "chasing" bunny and cat sculptures on peoples lawns. He kind of just looks dazed for a second, shakes it off, and moves on with the walk. But he keeps falling for the same lawn ornaments all. the. time.

back I watched as a turkey vulture tried to carry off a garden hose. My guess was it thought it was a very large snake. He worked at it for several minutes and then left.

When an adult this Red-tailed hawk will quickly realize (after experience) when a real-looking Mallard has wood for brains. Notice how it attacks with its feet. Thought to be living Dino's, modern bird raptors attack prey like this with their strong talons and ancient dinosaurs raptors likely with fierce teeth.
