I looked up some of the research on the topic and only about 50% of folks actually have a reaction.
And there is no correlation between reaction and efficacy.

Glad you got the booster, it is working on your immune system quietly as we speak.

After the booster shot, nothing happened for 24 hours and I was fretting about it.

The second day it kicked my butt and I was sick for three days.

I hate to say it, but I felt relieved when I finally got sick.

Nothing, I was fretting that perhaps I got a rogue shot and it was only water.
Arm not sore, nothing.

Finally went to bed late on Friday nite, woke up the next morning sick.
And was sick for three days.

But I did get the full dose Moderna booster and the flu shot at the same time.
Couldn't move my arm it was so sore.

So if you got half dose and no flu shot, maybe you will not get sick.

My understanding from the pharmacist is that 2 months ago they were giving full dose as the booster, but then that changed in Oct when the CDC said that the research showed a robust immune system response on half dose.

I wish I had waited because the full dose booster knocked me out.
It was too much for my body to handle. And the research now shows that half dose does the job very well.

one student was complaining that she’d had a rougher reaction to the booster than she’d expected. The teacher knew that this lady had already had Covid and she said every single person she knew that had a reaction to the booster had also had Covid previously. So there’s an overheard conversation reported by someone on the internet, FWIW.

So I have not had a case of Covid.

(I have some lower GI problems and the specialist has had me take some covid antibody tests to determine whether I have Covid or not.)

He found himself outside after going to bed. His MD told him that probably meant he had a asymptomatic infection earlier. The MD also told him that he had a probably had really strong immunity between the earlier infection and the following vaccinations.

After a few days the site itched a little.

When I was 5 I got my second smallpox vaccination. My mom freaked out because it didn't "take" (scab up and itch like fire). The doc told her not to worry, it just meant that I had a very strong immunity from the first one I'd had.

First two, mildly tender at injection site, starting approx 6 hours after shot & gone by mid-afternoon the next day.

3rd shot, nada, zip.

2 weeks later, I had pneumonia, flu, & tdap vaxes. No reaction to any of them. Tdap has tetanus vax in it & I recall very well how painful that was decades ago, but nothing this time.

I'm sure it still protects us though.

I had no reaction to all three Pfizer jabs. That is not unusual according to my doctor.

I attended an outdoor wedding and reception for a cousin on Friday of last week. No one was wearing masks, and damn it was nice to give and receive hugs after 18 months.

(My grandson did test positive for a breakthrough case about a month ago. He did not require a hospital visit.)

My first Moderna just a sore arm at injection site.
Ditto for Moderna #2 until the second day when I suddenly felt like a cement truck ran over me (super-tired, chills, had to go to bed, etc.) Third day absolutely fine/normal.
Booster: Full-dose Moderna --- just sore arm plus pretty tired the first day and night. It's 5 days later now and feel normal.

Got mine (Moderna) yesterday around 3pm. Except for a sore arm, no reaction at all since then. My wife, my sister, several friends all had symptoms, two had a fever, all had aches and pains and tiredness/lack of energy. Fortunately theirs lasted 24 hours and then a quick recovery.

I was actually pizzed... I WANTED a reaction! I even went online to see if there's a potential problem, but as others have mentioned it seems we're OK.

I had my first vaccination in January, that night I had a vivid dream where I discovered the person who gave me the shot was actually giving out nothings, she was pocketing the vaccines and selling them on the black market for thousands of dollars. The dream was so real that I was starting to doubt my sanity... it was like OK, this didn't happen... or did it? Argh.

Some people react differently.

My strongest reaction was to the booster, but others replied their earlier shots caused more side effects for them. And there's always a few people who don't notice their immune system reacting at all, despite how it is.

I had a flu shot on the same day, so maybe that's what the booster side-effects worse for me?

And you MIGHT still have side-effects later.

The booster made me feel crappy for 24 hours and left me with a sore arm. My wife had a small fever and felt much worse than I did.
We just chilled out and felt good about the extra protection.

Talking with my doctor (a woman) her "gut feelings" from discussions with her patients was that women had more of a reaction from the vaccine than men did, although she admitted that it was anecdotal, and that she would have had no clue as to why that may be.
