Apparently Emma Thompson was awarded an emmy yesterday for Song of Lunch.
Emma Thompson & Alan Rickman's "Song of Lunch" airs Friday Oct 8 on BBC2!
Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson star in The Song Of Lunch, a powerful and visually arresting film, made by BBC Drama Production for BBC Two, to mark National Poetry Day on 7 October.
The film, a dramatisation of Christopher Reid's narrative poem, tells the story of an unnamed book editor (Alan Rickman) who, 15 years after their break-up, is meeting his former love (Emma Thompson) for a nostalgic lunch at Zanzotti's, the Soho restaurant they used to frequent.
"The Woman" is now living a glamorous life in Paris, married to a world-renowned writer, while the unnamed editor has failed in his writing career, detests his mundane publishing job and regrets the end of their love affair.
When he arrives at Zanzotti's he finds it under new management and much changed, and this seems to fuel his resentment about growing older and being left behind. The stage is set for an emotional and bittersweet reunion.

Alan Rickman is fantastic in everything he does. He's one of those actors who plays bad guys so well, that one is pleasantly surprised when he plays a good guy.
And Emma Thompson?... She just gets more beautiful, stylish, and classy as time goes on. Shoot, I even loved her in 'Junior'!

(41,959 posts)There's something about a man's voice that gets to me more than any appearance. Rickman's oily voice, accent and sibilent "S"es makes my toes curl. Emma? She's just smart, funny, and wicked hot.
Thanks. I'll look for it!

(16,327 posts)I watched it and it was very good. I adore those two and have enjoyed their many collaborations, though the film in which they played FBI agents in New Orleans was pretty bad. "Sense and Sensibility " is still my favorite pairing.

(12,375 posts)It was on youtube for awhile. It is really good.
Alan has been busy since Seminar. He was in a short film (not yet released) called Dust, where he plays... of all things... the tooth fairy.
Then he finished CBGB in Savannah this summer, where he plays Hilly Cristal, the founder of the rock and roll club that started up young groups and singers such as Blondie, the Ramones, etc.
They just finished The Butler a few weeks ago in NOLA.
He is back in London now for a well deserved rest!
And graywarrior, eat your heart out, I've met him three times. hug me and I'll transfer some Alan-ness over to you.
