If you haven't read this in a while-----

"Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening." BY ROBERT FROST

"Whose woods these are I think I know.

His house is in the village though;

He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer

To stop without a farmhouse near

Between the woods and frozen lake

The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake

To ask if there is some mistake.

The only other sound’s the sweep

Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep."

Was a local celebrity of sorts where I spent much of my childhood. We had to memorize the poem for most of the early grades in school every fall. One year he came to our school and we recited it for him.

It's one I'll probably never forget the whole thing, memorizing poetry was a thing with my older siblings.

They just had a big snowfall.

It makes beautiful pictures, but is hell
to deal with, really.

Still, a touch of Frost is just the thing...

It is so soothing and comforting to my soul. There is just something about it that I cannot quite pinpoint that charms me so. As an upstate New Yorker and transplanted New Englander, it speaks to me.

Thank you for posting, Atticus. I needed this tonight.

I don't know how she did it, but my mother got us front row seats (just off to the right) to his appearance at the University of Michigan. I was pretty young and yet I still retain the image of him reciting this particular poem. Yeah, it was pretty remarkable. Thanks for the reminder.
