I hope this isn't a portent of how my 2022 will go.

I fell asleep before midnight but woke up at about 12:40 to the sound of the smoke detector’s ‘low battery’ alert chirping away. Got up, found a battery, swapped it out for the old one, went back to bed but I COULDN’T FALL BACK TO SLEEP!!!!

Gryff eventually crawled up on the bed and greeted me with lots of sweet nuzzles and kitten kisses, but soon joined Madoc in power pouncing on my legs and feet. Traitor!!

Got up, got dressed and fixed the feral’s food. As I was setting it out for them I dropped a whole bowl FULL of kibble. Hopefully they will just eat what I couldn't recover off of the dead leaves.

Decided a nice basted egg sounded good for breakfast. Got everything going, cracked the egg, and BROKE THE YOKE. Oh well. It tasted good as a flat fried egg.

I don’t know - I might just go back to bed.

break a yolk. I go to fry one and I have to handle it like a surgeon and still break it.

I started four years ago after too many middle of the night chirping events. I couldn’t stand it. Perhaps every six months is overkill, but I’ve not heard a chirp since.

alarm started chirping in the middle of the night. We called the office and got a recording saying they didn't have a maintenance person on duty. We couldn't reach the damn thing even standing on the bed. My sister was finally able to jump up and down enough times to wrench it out of the ceiling. We thought about throwing it in the swimming pool, but ended up just putting it outside. Talk about nerve-wracking...

“Gryff eventually crawled up on the bed and greeted me with lots of sweet nuzzles and kitten kisses…”. What better way to start a new year?

They are so cute, though, it's hard to do anything but laugh.

Now they are both snoozing away, apparently worn out by that early morning activity.

I sleep well, but am always aware of when one of my girls snuggles up to me in bed. It took them a while to do it and they take turns for some reason. It always makes me smile.

It is universal kitty nap time now, so ...

Oh, and Happy New Year to you and those precious little fur balls!

Last Monday night. Only I had to listen to the damned thing until morning when I could get the maint. guy up here to fix it. I didn't have the right batteries even if I could reach the thing and I'm not allowed to do any work, including that, on this place according to the lease. And it was the first night I had Mikey here though it didn't seem to bother him, drove me up a wall.

My new year is starting off well enough. It was -10F when I went to bed before 1am but it was 0 when I got up a couple hours ago. Because of the cold I decided I really needed to run the ceiling fan all night, Mikey is afraid of it so I am reluctant to use it while he's here though he's not as freaked out as he was this summer. But having the fan on did do one thing, it kept him from engaging in his near nightly practice of wandering from window to window making all sorts of loud vocalizations for about an hour and preceding his use of the litter box which I keep super clean because of a small house and smells. He just hates having to use it because outside isn't an option. That was a plus!

And it isn't full on cloudy or snowing this morning, haven't seen a sunny day in at least a week. I don't feel all achy and that's unusual so I am hoping the day goes smoothly and indicate how the year might go.

I hope you went back to bed, that's what I would do.

Hope you have a fantastic year ahead!

Depending on where I check, we could be in for 3 to 8" of snow, tonight. Kind of a wide potential accumulation range. Fortunately, I am well stocked with food and drink so there's no big rush to clear my driveway.

Not going out until Tuesday. We have high wind warnings through Monday so forget it. I don't really need anything, I have enough coffee and all the fixings for that and two meals a day if I want to eat that much. And I have all the supplies and food for Mikey so we're good until then. I get my monthly $ on Tuesday so I have to go out and deal with bills so I hope the wind will die down for the day. Wind is not uncommon here, we have it 350 days a year, it's just when it kicks up over 35mph that you have to start worrying about it.

Running up and down the hall and yelling to go out.
They both ran to the window.
There were 2 good size rabbits eating the spilled bird food.

I am tired.

I don't believe so. It's sort of like how buttered bread always falls butter side down.

who acted somewhat like a dog. He loved me very much. One morning I woke up with purring in my ear, and gentle vibration on my skin. He had positioned himself on my arm and chest and was snoozing away. When I die, and G-d asks me to name something that was very precious, I will tell Him about this incident, something that continues to make me feel comforted.

No matter how many times you instruct a lover to repeat the experience, they just never quite get it right. Guess that's because they are not a cat.
