Is Madonna desperate for attention now that we have a new Madonna?

Lady GaGa is obviously the new Madonna. I'm not much of a fan of either one but I did grow up with the original Madonna's music and enjoyed it in my youth. Haven't heard any of her new stuff in years. It seems she's trying to get more and more controversial these days to compete with the outrageous Lady GaGa.

Madonna & Guns: Singer Brandishes Fake Pistols & Machine Guns Despite Warnings, Recent Events

Maybe she really just doesn't read the news, but Madonna's managed to do it again: Despite being warned by police, the singer -- who named her album after a thinly veiled drug reference -- defied a ban and waved fake machine guns and pistols on stage at her show in Scotland on Saturday.

Her performance drew the ire of Mothers Against Guns, who said the 53-year-old singer "should know better."

"Madonna and her dancers using replica guns was always in bad taste but given what happened in Colorado it is even worse," a representative for the organization told the Saturday Morning Herald.

The singer's camp remained defiant. "Madonna would rather cancel her show than censor her art," a member of her tour staff told HuffPost's Rob Shuter. "Her entire career, she has fought against people telling her what she can and cannot do. She’s not about to start listening to them now."

Elton John has her figured out. I watch her on an interview before she did the Superbowl half time show. (I think it was the superbowl) She reminded me of someone who was channeling Lauren Bacall. She even corrected herself when she slipped into lingo that didn't fit the persona. The whole schtick came across as forced. But, what do you expect from the Material Girl?

then we'll talk.

Until then there is only one Madonna and that's Madonna herself!

I can't wait to see her show in Philly - August 28th!

But I was only making a joke about how Gaga is basically copying Madonna's schtick with the dance music and shock value.

I watched the Monstor tour on HBO and honestly, it was a repeat of Madonna's Blonde Ambition tour from 2 decades earlier.

I think Lady Gaga has some talent but she has a long way to go before she can fill Madonna's shoes.

But lately she seems like a bitter old grandmother. Her new CD wasn't that good either. I really liked her newer music, but this CD really isn't good.
She should focus on being a mother, and a mentor to younger singers, instead acting the way she's had recently.

And I remember when Madonna was the hip new thing - I was in college at the time. Gaga can really sing and can hold her own easily with the likes of Tony Bennett on their marvy duet of "The Lady Is A Tramp."

I must admit I did like "Ray of Light" though.

I'm surprised Hollywood hasn't made a remake. They remake everything. But who could play the Bette Davis role? Hmmmm.
