Finally got off of my lazy butt and cleared the walk and driveway. DAMN it's cold out there!!!!

We are currently at 14 degrees, in mid-Michigan. I'm back inside and back on my lazy butt, considering making something for lunch.

Might be a good afternoon to bring in some firewood and utilize the fireplace.

And it started right up. I can't imagine living in Michigan without one.

It was a reluctant start, that's for sure. So, I finished clearing off as much snow as possible and pulled it into the garage. What snow was left has melted and evaporated away so I'm not TOO worried about having to start it up.

5. True. They are still figuring out the best place to lounge in front of the fireplace

It has an insert so the fans blow out that warm air, making lounging directly in front of the flams quite unnecessary.

Just ran out to fill bird feeders and discovered I probably should have put on a coat and gloves. Mr. Cat is sleeping in the sun on my porch, in his comfy chair with the heating pad; I guess that's enough to keep him comfortable. He was hungry this morning - I'm glad I got the heated food and water bowls so at least his food and water aren't freezing.

As soon as they see me, and usually even before, they come running so the food doesn't last long enough to freeze. The water is another story.

Fortunately, my home is brick & does have insulation, likely to protect occupants more from heat than cold.

Stay warm!

11. I admit I'd rather have the cold than any deep snowfalls

My cousins live on the west side of Michigan and they got BURIED with snow, over the past few days. We got, maybe, an additional inch.

Glad you, your boys, & ferals are safe!

We had 1/2" of snow with some sleet yesterday. Schools all closed. They just don't have the equipment (or skill set!) to deal with snow removal.
