our #1 destination for our field trips was the field museum, because they sold them in the gift shop. they also had a different selection, it being a museum.
plus it had a mickey d's, so if they were a happy meal toy, they usually had them when others ran out. i had to eat a happy meal too sometimes.

My husband had a traveling job. They were very easy to pick up as gifts for the kids.

My granddaughters love them all over again.

I've seen wild variations on eBay from those selling that same bear.

Couple years ago I bought at a garage sale for a couple bucks the dragon, "Scorch."

That's as far as I'll go.

Cartons upon cartons full of those little suckers. Between Beanie Babies and Harry Potter it gave me a hint of the underbelly to come. In fairness though, some of those midnights were fun because the kids were really into it.

i have a search set for a woman artist that i collect. a woman wrote a book about her in '04, and it pops up in that search. the book is available for $40, signed, every day.
but someone on ebay lists it over and over for $200-300. pops up at crazy prices on amazon used, too.

There was one that was really rare, an elephant I think. Lots of counterfeits. A local collector shop owner said... Lucky me. Four of them came into my shop this week offering to sell to me.

So many people invested so much on stuff which, today, sells for cents.

I was born in 1985, got to see a lot of this craziness firsthand. I turn 37 on February 3. Gettin' up there, but I'll be rich thanks to my NES cartridge collection!

when he was about 8, I think. We'd run all over town getting new ones and watch the prices rise on eBay. I convinced him to let me sell his collection and put the $2,000. In his bank account.

I use 3 to decorate at Christmas and 3 for Halloween. It's a nice reminder of the fun we had and a lesson in buy low, sell high.
