Thinking about biological collections lately I'm reminded of the time that somehow at age 4, I got a personal tour of the @UCBerkeley entomology collection (Essig?) from a kind scientist (anybody know who?!). Asked my parents how on earth THAT happened, and it turns out...🤯

(2,881 posts)Thanks for sharing. I had buggy aspirations myself as a grade school kid and remember using glass jars to make bug traps. Did not pursue that field, kind of wish I had, worked with computers and graphics instead. I had a friend in later years who was pursuing a PHD in ornithology at a large university nearby with quite a natural history museum and got to take a tour behind the scenes. Great fun...

Over my 45 year's as a peds nurse practitioner, I would frequently have little kids listen to their own hearts, or to mine, or look in my ears before I looked in theirs. A fair few were quite intrigued.
