That nice man in a pickup with a plow

cleaned out around my car for me again. I don't know if he works for the township or is just being neighborly, but I feel really blessed! I was cleaning off my car last week, and when he went by I waved and smiled, just happy to see the plows out. And he plowed me out then. I didn't expect a repeat, but I'm glad I have a knight braving the snow!

The weather forecast said an inch or less all day and another inch or less overnight, but it started snowing this afternoon and hasn't quit. I think we have 2" fresh snow on top of the last 2 snowfalls.

That's very nice. In the winter of 1961-62 (yes, I'm old) my father had a broken hip. rsdsharp Jan 2022 #2

My older brother was 16, but had a part time job. I was 7, and not much help. It was a terrible winter, with tons of snow and frigid temperatures.

My mom was focused on keeping the driveway, which opened onto US Highway 18, clear in case my dad had to go to the doctor. With snow every couple of days, and the highway involved, plows were continually throwing snow into the end of the driveway.

One day my mom was shoveling the drive when a plow went by and put it right back. She dug out again, and back came the plow. Mom sat down on a pile of snow and started to cry. The plow driver went down to the end of the street, turned around came back up the other side of the street, and saw my mom crying.

Concerned, he rolled down the window to ask what was wrong (turned out he was a 2nd cousin of my dad’s). Mom explained, and he told her to get out of they way, and plowed the drive. Then he told her that he’d put the word out to the other drivers to plow the drive. Problem solved!
