Art on the moon

Maybe this was already done but I was wondering if we ever left a work of art, painting or sculpture, on the moon to show what earthlings do.

If not, do you have a suggestion of what would be a good representation. Of course, it doesn't have to be Western Art, since that is only a slice. Plenty of indigenous peoples' art would be included. It could be called the Moon Art Project!

Let them figure it out.

Why do you think they'll stop at the moon before coming to Earth?

...it might be that Earth's 1 Gee is on the high end of life in the Universe. Maybe--and this is wild speculation which I don't take too seriously--the UFO visits appear so much like hit-and-run raids is that they--whoever "they" are--can't endure our gravity for long periods of time...

The Apollo 15 crew, Dave Scott and Jim Irwin, left a figurine and memorial card in honor of the astronauts and cosmonauts who had died up to that time, August 1971. At Hadley Rille.

Charlie Duke, lunar module pilot on Apollo 16, left a photograph of his wife and children in the soil.

Gene Cernan, commander on Apollo 17, wrote a note to his daughter, Tracey, in the soil, under the edge of a huge boulder.

It strikes me that, as an art historian, I thought of representational art, not something by Warhol or Picasso (altho Guernica might be a interesting one to leave).
