I know this is a stupid thing, but you don't know how many bewildered faces I have met when I have said that I never found Seinfeld funny. I always thought it was a stupid and annoying show and I cant stand Larry David either! I AM among friends!

(51 posts)Watched it only one time and that was only because I was in the hospital and couldn't move LOL. I didn't laugh once...not even a smile. Zzzzzzzzz. Watched Friends one time for like 2 minutes...hated it!

(43,049 posts)the characters were thoroughly useless and unlikable, 'specially that bald little pissher who I want to beat into the pavement every time he opens his mouth. He's way beyond annoying.
And Kramer? Such a shame they let that asshole rip off Reverend Jim.
Yeah, it sure was a show about nothing.
(Now, I will admit that occasionally some episodes were amusing-- but one Soup Nazi does not a classic series make)

(9,077 posts)Never did understand the appeal. I've seen enough posts & references to it I sorta understand the mythos, but I've never been able to watch a whole episode, let alone a season.

(19,089 posts)The early shows were weak, but I found the show about nothing was, on the whole, hilarious and quite entertaining ....

(1,581 posts)You are not the only one, I never understood the humour, or what seemed to pass for humour.
I don't know what a 'Larry David' is and I don't love Raymond.

It's not even coherent!

(2,682 posts)because I never watched Seinfeld. No particular reason, just never got around to watching it. Likewise, I've never watched Larry David. I'm usually on the computer in the evening and not watching TV.

(12,723 posts)I have tried I really have tried to see the humor in The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half men. Both shows are cruel and unfunny. BBT in particular I find down right offensive. Amos N Andy with "smart" people. And that other show, Charlie Sheen has no talent that i can discern.
eppur_se_muova
(36,227 posts)couldn't stand it. Annoying whining may make for a good five-minute act, but not a 22-minute comedy. Especially whining about nothing.

(72,790 posts)I watched for an entire year and thought it was the worse show ever.
Gave it another shot the next year, realized there was really no point to this show other then these friends getting into silly situations, and from then on I loved it.

(6,581 posts)I must confess, though, I am not that big of a fan of the final episode. I thought that was a bit odd the way they ended it.
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)I never liked it, either.
That, and "Scrubs"
Not even grin-worthy, either of them, and I always got strange looks from people who said they were in stitches from those shows.
Whatever blows yer skirts up, I guess...

(21,551 posts)Not always funny, but the trajectory of the show changes suddenly and wildly and that it keeps you on your toes. More of a mind bender than a sitcom.

(1,353 posts)Never found Seinfeld funny AT ALL. Four sociopaths who'd sell their grandmothers for a quarter. Meh.

(12,132 posts)And I liked Scrubs too. And Big Bang Theory. I agree that 2.5 Men is crap though.
I will admit, though, that my main attraction to Scrubs was Second Becky. I Adored her on Scrubs - oddly, I thought she was useless on Roseanne.

(27,461 posts)then years after its heyday I was crashing on a friend's couch and we watched the reruns every day and I became a fan. Then the Michael Richards rant happened and I've never enjoyed it and any affection for the characters is pretty much gone.

(12,008 posts)As actual people, they are far less sympathetic than their unsympathetic characters. Michael Richards I actually have the most sympathy for, because when he had a breakdown, fucked up, and really hurt people, he seemed to show genuine contrition. The others are just rich bastards who think nothing of the little people.

(78,249 posts)Seinfeld never cracked the Top 20 among African American viewers. This is not really all that surprising since Jerry, Elaine and the guys lived in a sort of Bizarro World Manhattan where nearly everyone you saw on the streets, in restaurants, even in the subway was white.

(17,309 posts)Come to think of it it had its seconds. Occasionally.
I never liked it either. Boring and stupid.
begin_within
(21,551 posts)There were some funny moments in the early years of it. But it went on too long, and the few episodes I managed to catch during the last 2 years of it weren't funny at all. They were just weird and didn't make me laugh. I think the show ran out of gas and they just kept it going to make money off of it. After it ended, TV Guide rated it the #1 sitcom in the history of TV, and that was the last laugh. To rank it higher than so many other great shows.

I liked stuff like Roseanne, Married with Children and recently Modern Family.
to be honest, most network TV sitcoms leave me flat.

(1,675 posts)George was supposed to get married and his fiance died by licking toxic envelope glue. The entire episode was about how happy George was that he was not getting married and making fun of his fiance dying. The premise was very offensive and he episode was NoT funny at all. I was disgusted and never watched again.

(3,709 posts)I never enjoyed the show...I watch it some because my ex loved it...might be why he's an ex. There were some funny bits every now and then...and I love Jason Alexander...but for the most part I found it boring and annoying.

(5,364 posts)Seinfeld had genuine humor, not just silly one-liners. One could see it clearly in Larry David's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'.
Seinfeld's characters were not meant to be likable, and lack of a plot is irrelevant. Just great writing.
