morning, cat lovers...

so, I have a problem. Which I found a solution to and thought I'd share it. I have two large Maine Coons. One of them is a messy bugger lately with the cat box (he's taking a trip to the vet) So...yesterday, he pooped in the box but some how managed to cover himself in it, then proceeded to walk through the house, and all over my counters (effing nasty). This morning, hubby found he had done the same thing and the cat ended up with a bath - and us at 5:45 in the morning cleaning up cat shit. I don't handle this well in the mornings...

anyway, I need an enormous cat box and can't find anything, but google saves the day and this is what I found.

I'll be headed to the hardware store today to pick up a storage container and to try this.

I'm pretty sure K-Mart has them on sale for $4 this week. Colors may vary. HopeHoops Jul 2012 #1

Recently, he has 'missed' the box, or decided it hadn't been scooped to his satisfaction,
and started pooping on an area rug outside the room where the litter box is located.
I used to have TWO litter boxes--one for each cat--but found a 'dog size' box
that we have been using for a couple of years. The sides aren't as high as I'd like,
but I wonder whether I shouldn't try this idea to discourage the 'over the edge'
missing that has occurred recently.

His litter box is a mixing trough, the kind used for mixing cement. Got it at Home Depot for around 4 bucks. Lowes has a cheaper kind.

I made an outdoor house for my two outdoor kitties out of one of those. I cut a hole in one side and turned it upside down so they would have more room to stretch out in. I also put insulation around it, and an outdoor heater designed for cats. Make sure you get one which has a lid that is easy to remove for cleaning.

Opening's on the side, though. Now the cat doesn't like to use a litter box unless it's in the bin.
