that says "The Big Bang Theory" is coming up, you might want to look in. Sheldon Cooper is hilarious.

my first episode of Big Bang Theory yesterday, and I thought it was actually very good! First time I've watched a sit-com episode in 25 years, LOL.

I don't care for modern comedy either and generally find it to be unfunny, boring and overrated. My favorites are still sitcoms like the Golden Girls, the Cosby Show, Hogans Heroes, Family Ties, Perfect Strangers and the like -which I still usually watch regularly on reruns -and there hasn't been anything really good sitcoms on TV since all the 80s sitcoms went off air

30 Rock, Raising Hope, Big Bang Theory are some of my current favorites.

Since Cosby you've missed Arrested Development and probably a couple others I can't think of right now.

Maybe my crudometer is set different than yours - I can't promise you'd enjoy any of those I listed but I can say I also loved every one of the shows you listed so we do have some common ground...

I just don't find them funny anymore. The more recent ones that I checked out were pretty tasteless.

I'm glad I got to see the "golden age" of sitcoms, though -- All in the Family, Maude, Golden Girls, Designing Women, Laverne and Shirley... those were some of my favorites.

And this goes back to even the ones I liked, is when they would recycle jokes.

Same joke, different people.

Cosby was great especially because he'd take sitcom jokes or cliches and turn them on their ear.
Starting with the first one, Theo tells Dad to just accept him as he is, audience goes "Awwww..." Cosby tells Theo just how dumb that sounds and makes him buckle down and get better grades.

Voices the same concern you have. The jabs, the cut low, and constant put downs just are not funny to her. Hurtful comments are not that amusing to some.
