An interesting variation on the "that guy" rule of band shirt wearing

The rule of course being when you go to a concert or show to not be "that guy", the guy wearing the shirt of the band playing. However today I found out that my church's worship band is being helped out by a guy in a band fairly known in the indie scene locally, since he's friends with some of them and will probably be playing sometimes. He was today. So if I wore his band's shirt to church, would it be a violation?

I'm kind of leaning toward yes if you do it on purpose, since it's similar to wearing related band shirts. However since it's not likely if you'll know if he's playing or not (somewhat rotating lineup), if you have the shirt and wear it regularly and just happen to put it on that Sunday, no big deal. Since I don't like the impression that I was wearing it on purpose though if I had a shirt from that band I wouldn't wear it on Sundays at all. As it is I don't have one though I like them and have seen them a few times.
