Why do I get the last word?

Ten years of posting here and there's something odd. A disproportional number of my replies seem to be the last in a thread. I haven't made a detailed count, but it seems like between a third and a half of my posts turn out to be the last discussion (unless it's about guns - those guys never let go). Whether it's a 4-reply post, or 60 replies, it seems to happen more often than chance would allow.

Is it a fluke? Is it because I'm late to the party? Do I stupidify everyone else into silence? Is there a statistical explanation?

One thing I have learned: If you misspell something in a post, odds are that it will not be the last post in a thread.

Of the "Top 10 Threadkillers?" S/he somehow found a way to determine which members were most often the last to reply to a post. Well, I was one of them, LOL. So you're not alone...

when I check the My Posts tab, there are a lot of unanswered posts. At other times, a response to someone's posts will get a whole bunch of replies. No rhyme or reason it seems. Maybe it has to do with when people are online?

It does seem that if even one person responds, others will too. If no one does, it sits like a bad egg.

so you could kill your own thread - hilariously! lol But hey, you are the only competitor that got a rhyme. So far. someone else might write one for someone else.

Then again, that may not be all that great a prize - I always think I'm either funnier than I really am or not nearly funny enough.
