Around about 26 hours from now, I will be enjoying a Triple O burger for the first time in about

four years. It'll be on the ferry from Swartz Bay to Nanaimo. I did have one in Hong Kong a couple of years ago, but it just wasn't the same.

Legend has it that the name Triple-O was part of the shorthand language of the carhops: guests could choose from mayonnaise and relish, and the order slips were printed with three X's and three O's. An X meant hold, an O meant extra, and Triple "O" meant plenty of everything.

Grilled steak, grilled onions and serrano peppers on a ciabatta bread bun with mayo.

and for all you grazers talking about heart attacks. Last time they checked mine the arteries were clean as a whistle, my cholesterol stays in the 160's.

I'm still mindful of fats as well as sodium and sugar, but I don't completely abstain from anything --
nor have I been advised to do so.

The legend is that triple-O sauce was invented at the UBC Food Sciences lab, and the recipe bought by White Spot.

Have a good trip!
