I ended up with an extra sock with no mate in my sock drawer and found out that I was missing the plastic lid to an old Pyrex bowl I had since the 60's.

Haven’t lost a sock since I started doing that. I also have a bag of socks that Mismatched that lost before I started with the net. Sometimes I find that mate of the sock stuck to a piece of clothing or sheets.

I never know the reason why, but sometimes an odd sock turns up and I find the match for it, sitting in my bag of odd socks. If I had thrown out the original unmatched sock, I never would have been able to do that. Sometimes it pays to be a saver and a procrastinator.

One sock of each pair is actually a larval form of a coat hanger. It crawls into your closet and turns into a wire coat hanger. That’s why you always lose one sock and you have extra coat hangers in the closet.

In 10 years you can fish out two and put them on and either your eyes will fail you and they will look like a good match or your standards will have relaxed and you won’t give a damn they don’t match.
