Two different shows, two different reactions.

Just saw the first two episodes of Tales of the Walking dead. These involve one hour stories that focus on the experiences of people during the zombie apocalypse that have nothing to do with the characters from the main WD group. So far, I like it.

Actors are crowd favorites and performances were very good. Storylines are very satisfying. Highly recommend.

Next one was American Horror Stories. Plural. I enjoyed the episodes that reminded me of AHS, but there were episodes that left me cold. It was more like watching Tales of the Crypt. Not a fan of that genre that just ups the macabre, with little to no likeable characters.

So, here goes a fast recap without giving away spoiler:

Dollhouse. Very good. Highly recommend.

Rubber Woman, felt like a AHS spinoff, so mostly okay. Got a little gory in Part 2, but, it was early in the series so it didn't completely put me off.

Drive - One of those shows where there were no likeable characters, so you just hated it when the worst one prevailed, but it did have a good twist to an old scare story.

Milkmaids. A plague plot, which relies on a little known scientific fact to come up with one of the grossest scenes I have ever seen. I know there had to be more to the plot, the way everything turned out, but I was too busy turning away to see it. In retrospect, look for a parallel between how viruses spread, and how prejudices infect a community.

Bloody Mary. I have trouble believing that anyone would intentionally look in a mirror and invite evil. But I know it happens. Like that time I walked into the kid's bathroom in time to hear my young daughter recite the last stanza to Candy Man. But in her defense, she was half the age of the four teenagers who dug up that old spirit in Bloody Mary. The show seemed to be an inspiration of both Candy Man and Bloody Mary. Think of a racial slant to Bloody Mary for something fresh and new.

Ba'al. Back to the tried and true AHS format, where the victim at least gets a chance to fight back. And does it in a true American Horror Story sort of way.

Aura. A karma story which ended about as good as a true karma story would end if you go by the "Thou shalt not kill" commandment.

Facelift. I like Judith Light, so this one was painful to watch. Not happy with the moral of the story.

Necro. Why dear lord, why did someone have to put this story down on paper? No likey. Not at all. Too weird.

Lake. Haven't seen it yet.
