(22,478 posts)As it is now I just put blockades in front of the dog door so she has to shimmy in and drop whatever she has in her mouth.
She is just young and has only been bringing in 1/2 eaten lizards but that horrors me out too. I don't want to see any birds or snakes like my last one brought me.

(23,095 posts)My 2 old cats that passed a few years ago were both mighty, mighty hunters and brought us "treats" regularly until they got really old and slowed down with arthritis. They were awesome and I miss them, but I sure don't miss their bird hunting.

(21,751 posts)The first thing the dog did was to bring his chew toy to the cat and present it to him as a gift.
Now he brings that old cat "gifts" several times a day.
Must be instinctual behavior. It works. The dog and cat get along very well together, and both seem happy (to my surprise).
