I think there have been several iterations of the group since Miller's death. Here's a video of them performing In the Mood in 2018, the same year I saw them.

still out there, the 33s when I am out in a flea market or the like, looking for my Disney stuff, e.g., record albums too. The GM Orch. records are very common, I guess that they will be around forever. I never listened to the Glen Miller Orch., but they fulfilled a role back I guess in the '50s and 60s, and perhaps later too. Before my time.

GM Orch was founded in 1938. Glenn Miller died in 1944 when the plane he was on was lost over the English Channel.

night, I ran into somebody that actually spoke fondly of the Glen M. orch. and the others that were around.

What a small world.

We ended up talking about musicians that came out of the East St. Louis area, Patti Labelle, Tina Turner (and the Mad Max series of movies, all classics), and then we got talking about the Blues etc. What a night in talking about music (and shows)!

but I've played in big bands since high school. Pretty much played all the Miller tunes as well as Goodman, Shaw, Dorsey bros, Herman, Ellington....and many more I can't remember. I love playing this stuff!

A few years ago we went to a Glenn Miller concert, the orchestra was led by John - who was Herb's son. He looked uncannily like his uncle. Good show.
