The Little Mermaid Reaction Videos

For those unaware, over the weekend Disney released the first trailer for their live action remake of The Little Mermaid, featuring rising star Halle Bailey in the lead role of Ariel.

While this casting choice has enraged the racists who are opposed to a black actress starring as a fictional mermaid, the real story is actually the reaction from young black girls (and some boys) who are over the moon ecstatic to see an Ariel who looks like them.

Parents, grandparents, guardians and siblings of young black girls have been uploading reaction videos to the girls (and some boys and some older folks, too) watching the trailer for the first time. Their reactions are simply magical and will brighten your day. There are dozens and dozens of them on TikTok and the above video is a compilation of but a few of them.
