So in the 60's Planet of the Apes films...

All that leather that the apes are using. That's human skin, right?

There's no evidence that the apes herd cattle, and horses appear to be used exclusively for transport. Maybe when the horses die or are euthanized they use the leather and other bits of the carcass. Since they have funerary rituals for apes, it isn't likely that the dearly departed are being flensed.

But humans seem plentiful, and the apes certainly hunt and kill them.

It's never stated that the apes eat them, and other than the medical test subjects and the ones that wind up in museums, what do the apes do with the rest?
