(16,941 posts)I had no idea that K.C. and camilla had carried on for so long. I guess this is what happens when you marry for duty, not for love.
Glad Harry made a different choice for his life

(16,941 posts)I didn't really pay much attention to the English royal family. I knew Princess Anne liked horses, knew Lord Mountbatten and 3 others died in a bomb blast on their boat, knew about K.C. and Diana's stormy marriage.
QEII reminded me of my grandmother but even so, I didn't pay much attention.
If K.C. and camilla really have a love child who is 55, they had to have been together while he was dating her sister Sarah. Hmmmm

(440 posts)He might get some title, or a name (FitzWindsor?) but since he was not the "issue" of a legitimized marriage, he's nowhere in the line of succession. Primogeniture only applies to a legitimate first-born son or daughter.
Also, is there any other instance in history where the heir to a throne married a former mistress and then became king? I can't think of one.

(41,205 posts)Although subsequent marriage of parents does generally legitimize a child born out of wedlock, this does not apply if one or both of their parents was married to someone else.
Not the same thing, but King William IV had ten children by the same woman, Dorothea Jordan. But because she was an actress and not sufficiently aristocratic, they could not marry, and his eventual marriage to Adelaide produced no children. So he died 'without issue', leaving the throne to his niece Victoria, and none of his descendants ever ruled Britain. Well, one of them did in a way: it was David Cameron!
