I went fishing. I used a tree branch, string, safety pin and worm. I caught a crayfish.

(30,984 posts)Pulling up big delicious crabs. We put them in the bottom of the boat and kept our feet up off the deck. I also caught halibut on a line in Cook Inlet. absolutely delicious. My favorite would be sockeye salmon, though, used to fish for them in Bristol Bay
Growing up in Seattle salmon was inexpensive and we had it a lot. Not so much now.

(21,346 posts)Used to be pike in Lake Erie that were good, but they no longer exist there.
I eat salmon because of its nutritious value, but don't like the taste as well as other fish. I'd rather have tuna.

(31,919 posts)Sometimes my mother would have it in a restaurant and share some with me. It was DEE licious! 😋

(12,498 posts)We used to have fish stores, only open late Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. They always had a tray of hot crab cakes free to munch on while waiting for them to put your fish order together. Fish and clams fresh off the boats at the harbor piers.

(12,498 posts)waters supported the the best textured clams, scallops, cod and flatfish before the global warm up.
The North End Italian festivals every weekend for a different Saint or the Virgin Mary (until mid 70's) would serve up icy cold raw bar quahogs, little neck clams and oysters. Yum.

(3,413 posts)I cannot choose either as the best. Cod is good no matter how you fix it, broiled, fried, grilled, it's all good. Tuna is best grilled fresh, although I do like canned tuna made into tuna salad. As for fishing, it's just not my thing. If you catch them and clean and cook them, I'll be happy to eat them.

(86,333 posts)But I know people who do. I coat it with toasted pumpkin seed oil, it works like a nutty glaze, and pepper, some lemon. That's about it. Same with the trout. When it's fresh, it doesn't need help.
