What not to do on a dinner-date with your girlfriend:

After work I felt the need to take a walk to unwind. And as I walked, I thought to myself: "You know what? I fell like eating out this evening."

So, I went to a small restaurant where I had been once before. I ate, took my time finishing my drink while reading stuff on my Smartphone, and eventually paid the bill.

As I was getting up to put on my jacket, I subconsciously noticed something weird in the corner of my eye. I looked around and on the table next to me there was a couple on a dinner-date. He was with his head down, staring at his Smartphone lying on the table before him. And she... was looking right at me, smiling and giving me that special look.

Meh. I must be wrong.

I put on my jacket and lock back at her. She's still giving me that look, smiling, and he's still face-down in his Smartphone.

Okay, this is weird. Why does she keep looking at me?

I pick up my backpack and look back at her. She's still giving me that look, smiling, and he's still face-down in his Smartphone.

I walk past them to the door and she's still giving me that look, smiling, and he's still face-down in his Smartphone.

Outside, I take a quick glance back inside through the big windows, just to check what she's doing now. She looks right back at me, giving me that look, smiling............ AND HE'S STILL FACE-DOWN IN HIS SMARTPHONE.

...the boyfriend had decided to ignore her and look at his phone because she was so busy staring at you.

ignoring her, ignoring everything around him, and yet he's got to sit there, be rude, and ignore her, while gawking at his phone. How rude. If it were me, I would have just gotten up and left, telling him "well, if you're interested that much in your phone, you can sit by yourself."
