They're terrified, and they hide, sometimes for weeks. A lot of people give up on them before these shy animals have a full chance to come out of their shells.

I've rescued cats that hid for a month, then were still skittish for another month, and then turned into the most demanding love-bugs you could ever imagine.

I brought them home in carriers. The minute I opened the carriers they took off running, ran down the hall and under my bed. I couldn't get them to come out so I just let them stay there. The next day I put out litter boxes for them and food and water and left for the day. When I came home I saw they had ate and gone to the bathroom but gone back under the bed. Each day I left for awhile leaving food etc for them. Gradually they spent more and more time in my living room and eventually made the whole house their own. A person has to be patient even though it's hard to do.

Then there was the time we brought our fluffy Maine Coon mix home from the shelter. He strolled out of the carrier like he owned the place and began inspecting the facilities to see if they were to his satisfaction. He was our alpha kitty for years.

Was she abused or did just the experience of being abandoned by her people make her lose her confidence?

They mention it in the first part of the video, that they knew she was from an abusive home and may have some trauma to work through. I'm so glad they were able to help her get through -- and past -- it.
