The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsTime for the yearly viewing of the movie Picnic, the movie was based on Labor Day.
The movie takes place in a small town on Labor Day.
The William Holden character comes to town falls in love with the Kim Novak
character.
It was filmed in in 1955, and I always find the movie interesting.
I have it on my dvr, don't understand why TCM doesn't play the movie on Labor Day.
William Holden without a shirt is worth the watch.
Don't forget Kim Novak.
Time now for the beer and popcorn.

I like looking at the extras in the background, must have been a thrill to be in a big movie.
The movie had many great actors in it.
I read that Holden could not dance but he faked the dance scene well.
I only watch this movie on Labor Day.
This movie does show that Labor Day was once honored.
Just one day in a small Kansas town in 1955.

(37,648 posts)I guess it just wasn't important to me. I figured it was July 4th, since it was named Picnic, and picnics are big on July 4th.

Every time I see it I see something different.
