Would you go to this show?

I got work off, but I'm still torn. The facts:

-The total ticket price is over $30.
-There are four bands, three opening ones that are awesome and that I love, and one headliner that I really don't care about.
-That headlining band is the reason it's so expensive, and likely to attract very annoying people. (and by that I mean high schoolers.)
-However one of the opening bands is arguably even bigger than the headliner locally, and thus many more tolerable people will be going just for them.
-I've already seen all three opening bands.
-I went to a show with a similar setup last year (good openers, bleh on headliner) and some of the kids who were obviously attracted by the headliner made me want to smash their heads in.
-Lots of my buddies are going anyway.

to see Napalm Death a few years back. They weren't even the headliner. I had to sit through 3 other opening bands to get to Napalm Death and then I left after 1 song from the headliners. ND was the only band on the bill I liked at all.

I loved it. And I had already seen them several times and have seen them since. But I LOVE Napalm Death and I'll go anywhere I can to see them.

My point is I don't care who else is on the bill, if it's a band I like and I have the money, I'm going to the show. But that's my main hobby. I've been to thousands of shows since the early 80s. I don't hunt or fish and I haven't golfed in years but I love going to live shows.

I sat through some crappy juggalo bands last year just to see Suicidal Tendencies and I think Mike Muir was the only original member still in the band - but it was a great show once ST got on stage.

If you're risking an arrest for assault and battery, skip it; otherwise, ignore the clowns and go!

Emphasis on the want. Still can't stand being around those type of people. Luckily at this show there was a balcony with a bar that required ID to enter, so I could get away from them between sets. Not so at this venue.

So, paying $30 for a ticket sounds like a bargain to me.

hence I go to "shows", not concerts. I've been to more shows in someone's living room or basement than in a place with a capacity of over 500 people.

It is why I barely go to music events.
The cheapest one I've been to is with Morcheeba, and that still cost me more than 60 per ticket.

You can see it's a little different from some big arena type event.

$30 to see three bands you like? Sure.
You can always leave during the headliner- and miss the crowds getting out. I'm assuming it's at a club since it's *only* 30 bucks, but if it's at an arena, even better that you get to walk out on a band you don't like that much and not have to wait two hours to get out of the parking lot.

and all ages, so no booze in that area, but of course I can drink indoors.

Three opening acts that you love are a pretty good reason for going, and a pretty good reason to expect that you'll have a great time--no matter who else is on the bill.

Enjoy!
