Led Zeppelin fans rejoice! No, not THAT much..

no new reunion/tour rumors

BUT

I've heard form a credible source that the 12/10/2007 Reunion concert from the O2 arena in London will be officially released by Christmas this year.

The bootlegs I've heard of the show are fantastic and I can't wait to hear and see (DVD has been mentioned, maybe Blu-ray?) it recorded and mixed professionally.

set list:
1. Intro
2. Good Times Bad Times
3. Ramble On
4. Black Dog
5. In My Time Of Dying
6. For Your Life
7. Trampled Underfoot
8. Nobody's Fault But Mine
9. No Quarter
10. Since I've Been Loving You
11. Dazed and Confused
12. Stairway To Heaven
13. The Song Remains The Same
14. Misty Mountain Hop
15. Kashmir
16. Whole Lotta Love
17. Rock and Roll

They really tore it up that night. Will be great to hear it officially...

and he did a fantastic job. Seriously better than all the other times I've seen him or heard him drum. There has been criticism of him in the past that he simply did not have his father's groove but, at least on that night, he sure did.

I gave you a rec for that great job.

Zep only played Levee live a very few times - maybe only twice...I'd have to look it up.

I wish they played it more because it's one of my favorites...

They did that concert for a scholarship fund. I think they could add millions of dollars with CD/DVD

It has been suggested that the title of the song was originally supposed to be known as "Wheelchair Song" as an acknowledgment of Plant's broken ankle which caused him to fear he would never walk again, and which was a result of a car accident. Lyrically, the song was inspired by Plant's experiences in Morocco, where he and Page travelled following Led Zeppelin's 1975 Earl's Court concerts.[4] Plant specifically refers to Morocco's Atlas Mountains in the line: "The mighty arms of Atlas hold the heavens from the Earth". This is a double-meaning to imply the Atlas mountains in a physical sense seeming to hold up the sky, as well as the reference to the Titan Atlas and his task to hold up the sky on his shoulders and thus separate it from the Earth. Plant's lyrics were also inspired by some of the poetry he was reading at the time, which includes William Blake. "Albion remains/sleeping now to rise again" is a reference to Blake's engraving The Dance Of Albion. The following is an excerpt from the poem that goes with the song:
Albion rose from where he labour'd at the Mill with Slaves.
Giving himself for the Nations he danc'd the dance of Eternal Death.
Albion is the most ancient name of Great Britain.

If you can find some bootlegs from 77 - especially the one called "For Badgeholders Only" from LA 6/23/77 or "Listen To This, Eddie" from 2 days before you'll hear some pretty excellent versions of Achilles. Officially, the Knebworth '79 performance of Achilles appears on the Led Zeppelin DVD.

One of my all time favorite songs.

I still like "How the West Was Won" better, but SRTS sounds a lot better as a concert CD with the additional tracks that were previously unreleased on the vinyl/8-track/cassette versions. I especially like "Black Dog" and "Misty Mountain Hop."

That site has had a countdown for the last few days - today is the II from LZ's second album - previously we've seen 3, 4 and 5 all written in fonts that reference those respective albums...today is a the first time they've had a bit of audio and it's about 15 seconds of a crowd cheering and the opening notes of Good Times , Bad Times (which you will note from the setlist above was the opening song).

The reunion show was in honor and memory of Ahmet Ertegun who had recently died. He was the founder and president of Atlantic Records and was the first to sign Led Zeppelin to a contract. Robert Plant and Ahmet were very close (maybe the rest of them too but I have mostly ready how Robert was a good friend)...The concert was a benefit for the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund which gives university scholarships to US, British and Turkish students (Ahmet was Turkish-American).

They were originally only supposed to play a couple songs but asked if they could do a whole show - I believe the answer from the organizers was "ummm, hell yes?"

They are doing a Theatrical release! Hammer of the Gods is back!

But that probably means I gotta wait longer to get it on Blu-Ray...

no problem...I been waiting 5 years...a few months won;t kill me - I can hear the show any time I want now anyway...just not in that quality...
