I haven't forgotten that the talentless bastard acted like a craptastic thug toward the Dixie Chicks. Nothing Southern gentlemanly about any of that.

But I rarely liked the politics of the people playing. I wasn't a huge fan of the Dixie Chicks until I learned that they are progressives. I know, I'm that shallow. But once I fell in love with them, I really got to liking their music. It has all the elements of rural music that I've always appreciated, without all of the provincialism common to rural right-wingers.

I remember when most country singers were progressive, pro-worker supporters of the common man. Whatever their personal politics, they supported the 99%-ers instead of the 1%-ers.
