Wahoo...somehow I managed to live through a childhood without video games, the birth of MTV and survived the Reagan and Bush years, and my first vote for president was Bill Clinton.
those are the best milestones I can think of this early in the morning

(3,702 posts)My hairstylist who is in her 20's said to me last night..." ooh what's it like?"
Like I was some freak of nature who still managed to survive! Ha.. I know she meant well, but sheesh this whipper snappers!
I do feel like the best is yet to come! How I managed to survive the stupidity of my 20's and early 30's is still a mystery.

(3,702 posts)I still had a job and was a little less cynical. I have been unemployed for yrs now and starting to feel bitter. On the other hand, I feel a lot more mature and a lot less impulsive...that feels great.
I have a feeling that things will only get better, and if they don't ...well I hope I just forget the bad stuff!

(47,675 posts)I was just over 6 months old when Kennedy was assassinated. I don't remember the event, of course, but I do remember watching the moon landing on a small B&W TV on the dining room table. My first "favorite" song was "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)".
So, what's the first major event that YOU recall and what was YOUR first favorite song.

That was the day the MGM Grand burned...we were too far away to see the actual fire..that's goodness..but I remember seeing the smoke.
Hmmmm favorite song? Cupid by the Spinners! And I had a huge crush on Shawn Cassidy and loved the song the Da Ra Run.

My mom is kinda stubborn like that.
Happy belated birthday!

(6,581 posts)I too survived Reagan and Bush. My first vote was 1984, for Mondale/Ferraro. Didn't work out, but still felt really good to pull that lever (actually used lever machines when I voted in East Lansing in 1984). One thing I do remember from that election, there was a local woman who was running for re-election to the Michigan House, and I saw her at several campaign rallies and remembered her flaming red hair. She impressed me. And, she went on to become or Senator - Debbie Stabenow.

(5 posts)This is my first post and I need help. My best friend was assaulted last year and she has PTSD, depression, panic attacks, and severe social anxiety now. I was told that I'd probably find some information here about medical help for her. She and her husband are pretty close to losing their house due to medical expenses. She has two EMDR therapy sessions a week ($70.00) and about eight prescriptions a month, the cheapest of which is $30.00. She also sees three specialists per month at $35.00 per visit.
She has basically given up. Yes, she has tried suicide. She said she would be "worth more dead than alive" because no one would have to pay for her to live.
Several friends and I have set up a fundraiser for their family. The problem is, I don't know how to go about getting the word out. I'm not net savvy. I figure I'm on the computer all day at work so why would I want to be on it at night. I'm paying for that now.
Where could I get the word out about this fundraiser? I told facebook and twitter people about it. I don't know where to go now or who would be capable of finding an audience for it. The site that is hosting the fund raiser has verified that the police report is real and it's linked there on the fundraiser.
I want to help her and my hands are tied. Can you help me figure out where to promote this?
I am NOT soliciting funds here. I want to show you the fundraiser so you all will have an idea of what audience I need to go in search of.
WARNING: There is a jarring photo on the page showing the damage to her face. Personally I find the look in her eyes to be worse than her physical injuries.
This is what I am working with. Where do I go from here?

Many thanks for letting people ask questions. I didn't know where else to put it.

We probably did all the same things. The video games we had were pretty simple. My brother and I spent hours playing Atari. I loved my Barbies, My Little Ponies, Cabbage Patch kids, watching Fraggle Rock. My first vote was for Clinton as well. I remember Reagan and Bush pretty well. Challenger disaster was when I was in 4th grade. That is about all I can remember too. Oh, and lots and lots of MTV.

The same way? Same results?
Would you change anthing, knowing the end would change as well?
