When I lived here before, I used to go every year and spend most of the weekend. I've really missed it. Lots of great food, music, dancing, and other fun! I can't wait!

(12,132 posts)although I imagine it's similar to the annual Scottish Highland games we have here. My daughter and I always go to that but I'm still mad at myself that I haven't gotten a kilt made in my clan tartan yet. I need to get on that...
We love all the same things you mentioned - food, fun, music and dancing and stuff...and by "stuff" I mean the pitchers of Scottish ale for sale...

(4,033 posts)in early August is always a good festival. The one here in Western PA, is so-so. However the best Irish festival I ever went to, was actually my 9 day car trip through Ireland.

(17,621 posts)I'd love to visit there some day.
there were 6 of us, we had 2 cars. We communicated via walkie talkies. Some messages as I was in the lead car were "sheep to the left, sheep to the right, sheep straight ahead." Or "Abandoned church on the right, old graves on the left. We're stopping."
I highly recommend you get to Ireland at some time. With your first name, you'll be welcomed with open arms. As my Uncle and I out of the 6 on the trip, were the only ones with Irish names, received a "welcome home" when we had our passports stamped.

Lots of Irish people Ireland tend to view those kinds of people as 'Plastic Paddies'.
In addition, as far as I'm concerned you're not Irish unless you have Irish citizenship.
