I used to really get into music when I was a kid. It was a source of joy for me. From the time I was 8 until I was 20 I think is the time in my life when I appreciated music the most. I would really listen to it, you know, not just have it on to have something going in the background as I worked or did things around the house.

When I got a new album I would often put it on, put on my head phones, and just lay back and close my eyes. There would be nothing in the world except for that music. As I got to be a teenager and discovered, ahem, altered states of consciousness, the art of listening to music and the experience would be intensified.

It's been a long time since I got into music like that, but I got a little taste of that state again recently. This might seem silly for a man almost 40 years of age, but I really dig these guys (it's worth enduring the commercial):

Speaking of the commercial, it wasn't there a few weeks ago, but these guys are starting to get noticed and they were on Letterman in July with this tune. A video of that is on youtube as well, and they are very good live, but the official video for the tune I think captures what these guys are all about.

On edit- I clicked on my link in this post and there is no commercial. Enjoy!
