Thinking of getting a dog and I love the look of ridgebacks. They seem to closely resemble the look and temperament of our old dog, rip, who was a mix but I honestly don't know much about them.

Ridgebacks are not Labradors or Golden Retrievers in short coats. They are hunting dogs and have a high prey drive. Translation: They are quite independent -- they dont fawn over your every word, they can be oblivious to being called and require a lot of positive motivation to train them in traditional obedience. Many people are just not prepared for the stubbornness and hard-headedness in this breed.

take him to work with her, but someone in the office objected, so she no
longer does. But it didn't have anything to do with his temperament--
quite friendly--just someone who thought it was 'unprofessional'.
