Sweet lord Jesus, I'm fat.

I weighed myself for the first time in a long time about six weeks ago, and I was fatter than ever. I was sure that I'd lost weight since then, as I'm down a notch on my belt. I weighed myself again tonight, and I'm like ten pounds fatter than I was six weeks ago. What the hell happened? Where did the new fat find to go if my middle's getting skinnier?

It's not really something I'm battling with, but more of just noticing that I'm getting older. harmonicon Sep 2012 #7

some of that fat is probably being converted into muscle, which is denser than fat.

I was working 50 - 75 hours a week for most of that time, but that's mostly standing behind a counter - not much heavy lifting or anything. Does watching hulu and drinking build muscle? I've been doing a fair bit of that as well.

because I figure if my ass gained ten pounds, my jeans wouldn't be getting looser.

At my last visit to the pain doctor, they raised my dose of Lyrica to 600mg. I pretty rapidly went up to about 180lbs, which is quite heavy for me. Dieting is proving a challenge because the drug has created such a powerful appetite. Oddly, all of the fat is confined to my belly; the rest of me looks as it used to.

Worst part is, the new dose helps with my pain issues, and I don't get to say that about many treatments. Less pain but more weight, less weight but more pain? Oy.

I've been overweight for most of my life, apart from a few years as an active teenager, and I'm really ok with it. I'd just like to be at age 33 about the weight I was at 25 if I have to keep losing hair and getting stronger glasses prescriptions. I suppose I could just, you know, exercise or something. I guess that's probably what other people do.
