We had a similar situation with my youngest daughter. Her favorite animal was "white cat". HopeHoops Sep 2012 #4

Looked to me like it was the mom who had never gotten past it.

I'm sure the kid would have been fine the rest of his life if they had never found it.

Probably "the mom" who lost Ah ah in the first place and is now frantically trying to assuage her guilt.

Couldn't seem to emphasize enough how 'she' found it. Hope she'll be there throughout his life, to resurrect ALL his lost friends.

like she was trying to get him to feel the same things she was. It was more about HER memories than anything.

And it didn't occur to me at the time, but I think you're right...she made a big deal about how SHE found it.

I wouldn't have, myself. I probably would have put it on the kid's bed when he wasn't looking or maybe in his closet or in his dresser or something. For him to find in private, and then wonder about how he got back home. What a story that would have made

Moms are funny about stuff like that.

My kiddo had a bunny that was misplaced for a while. I bought a new one as a replacement, but of course it was bright and fuzzy and obviously not his own, which had been hugged and carried around till it was practically threadbare. I told him it was Bunny's cousin who had come to visit and keep him company. After regular Bunny was found, I put Cousin Bunny away to save, and he would come out when the kiddo was sick, or having a particularly bad day, or whatever.

Bunny and Cousin Bunny now both sleep with my son - he's 12 and 5'8, with hands bigger than his dad's, but he still snuggles those bunnies.

Thanks for posting the video.

We bought it for her when she was an infant. It was a Beanie Baby, but that meant nothing to us at the time. Before long, white cat was sort of gray. She also went everywhere and went missing. My daughter was crushed. I went looking for a replacement and it's then that I discovered it was a limited edition Beanie Baby trading at $400 in good or more for better condition. She would have known the difference anyway. About a week later, my wife found her under one of the seats. I was sure we'd looked there before, but at least she found her. I've still got my Suzy dog from when I was an infant. She's seen the inside of more washers than most diapers. I'm fucking 49, but that stuffed animal is a treasure to me.
